Where is the downloaded story saved on my device?
On Android and on a computer the file goes to the browser's "Downloads" folder; on Android it also appears in the gallery. On iPhone it lands in the Files app under "Downloads", and a video can be moved into Photos through the share icon. If you cannot find the file, open the downloads list in your browser — the entry there shows the exact path.
Why is the download slow or not starting?
Three usual reasons. The link points to a private account, and nothing behind a private profile is available. The story has already expired on Instagram. Or a browser extension blocks the download — ad blockers sometimes treat the file link as an advert. Open the same link in a private window to check the last one.
Can I download Stories from a private account?
No. Private profiles show their stories only to approved followers, and that restriction lives on Instagram's side. Our tool works with public accounts, and we do not bypass the limit for private ones.
Will the account owner know I saved their story?
No. The story is fetched by our server, so Instagram sees a request from us and not from you. Your name does not appear in the story viewer list, and no notification is sent.
What is the difference between a Story and a Highlight?
A Story disappears 24 hours after it is posted. A Highlight is a Story the account has pinned to the profile permanently. Both download here, but for pinned ones use our Instagram Highlights Downloader — it takes the whole album at once.
How long after posting can I still download a story?
Stories live 24 hours on Instagram. Once that window closes and Instagram removes the story from their servers, it can no longer be downloaded — here or anywhere else. Download what you need while the story is still live.
Do I need to log in to my Instagram account to use the Instagram Story Saver?
No. You never log in, and you never give us a password. Paste the username of a public profile or the story link, and you will see what the account has posted.
Is it legal to download Instagram Stories?
Downloading public content for personal use is generally fine. Republishing someone else's work is a different matter and depends on the copyright laws of your country and on Instagram's terms. Ask the author before you post their material anywhere.
