The downloader takes the image file Instagram stores, not the version scaled down for your screen: 1080 pixels wide for a square or landscape post and 1080x1350 for a portrait one, or up to 1440 wide when the author uploaded in HD. Save Instagram photos on iPhone
Open SSSInstagram in Safari and paste the link. iOS asks what to do with the file: choose "Download" and the photo lands in the Files app, folder "Downloads". To put it in your camera roll, open the file, tap the share icon and choose "Save Image". Nothing extra needs installing on iOS 13 and newer.

Where is the downloaded photo saved on my device?
On Android and on a computer the file goes to the browser's "Downloads" folder; on Android it also shows up in the gallery. On iPhone it lands in the Files app under "Downloads", and it can be moved to Photos through the share icon, "Save Image". The downloads list in your browser shows the exact path if you lose it.
In what resolution do photos download?
In the size Instagram itself stores: normally 1080 pixels wide, 1080x1350 for portrait posts, and up to 1440 wide when the author uploaded in HD. We do not upscale and we do not compress the file a second time, so what you get is exactly what the platform serves.
Why is the download slow or not starting?
Usually one of three things. The post belongs to a private account, and nothing behind a private profile is reachable. The link is a profile link rather than a post link — open the post first, then copy. Or an ad blocker is stopping the file request, which a private browser window will confirm in a few seconds.
Can I download photos from a private account?
No. Private profiles show their posts only to approved followers, and that limit is enforced by Instagram. The downloader works with public accounts.
Can I download all photos from a carousel at once?
Yes. Paste the post link and every slide appears as a separate file, including videos mixed into the carousel. Each one keeps its original resolution.
Do I need an Instagram account to download photos?
No. There is nowhere to log in here, so you never hand over a password. The link to a public post is enough.
Is it legal to download photos from Instagram?
Saving public photos for personal use is generally fine. Publishing someone else's photo is a separate question and depends on copyright law in your country and on Instagram's terms — ask the author before you repost.
